Benjamin Scott - A Short Bio

Benjamin's passion for writing includes bringing stories to life as a writer-for-hire. He is the author of eight book-packaged titles, including five Star Fighters books (2, 4, 6, 7 and 9) published under the name Max Chase, and three in another popular Fantasy series for 7-9 year olds. He is currently working on two titles in a new series for the Oxford Reading Tree/Project X. Benjamin is also the co-author of Turn Your Degree into a Career and the editor of the undercurrents anthology

The opening chapters of his young-adult novel, The Summoning of Freiya Rolandson, earned an Honorary Mention in the SCBWI-BI Undiscovered Voices 2010 competition. He is continuing to develop his own work with the advice of his agent.

When not writing, Benjamin Scott regularly teaches creative writing to a range of groups and organisations, he reviews for Carousel (the specialist children's book magazine) and offers freelance editorial advice and critiques to writers. He’s proud to have been frequently asked to deliver workshops at Writers’ Summer Schools (Swanwick) and to have been on the committee for the sixth-fifth anniversary year.

For three years (2010-2013) Benjamin was Assistant Regional Advisor of SCBWI British Isles, part of the world’s largest organisation for children’s writers and illustrators. He helped to organise conferences, retreats and workshops as well as helping to make sure things ran smoothly behind the scenes. He continues to volunteers as part of the Undiscovered Voices anthology competition team, helping to discover new writers and illustrators.

Benjamin loves writing and reading across all age groups and genres.
